With wedding season in full swing, one of the little details I love and admire are all of the invitations. Party planners know the importance of a solid invitation; it sets the tone and expectation for what’s to come. Who doesn’t love going to the mailbox to find an invitation with your name on it? You’re invited…
This past weekend, Bernie and I went on a retreat with our church. Saturday night, we sang one of my all time favorite songs. I’ve mentioned it on Long to Love several times, but each time I hear it, the words never cease to refresh and restore my heart.
“All who are thirsty
All who are weak
Come to the fountain
Dip your heart in the stream of life
Let the pain and the sorrow
Be washed away
In the waves of His mercy
As deep cries out to deep…”
We’re invited—weak, broken, thirsty, tired—we’re invited to come and partake in God’s incredible benefits. To dip our hearts in the stream of life and watch as God revives our weary souls.
So on this rainy, cold Monday morning, I pray that each one of us will take God up on His invitation and come; bringing to Him our worn out selves and watch as He breathes new life into our hearts.
It’s definitely an invitation you don’t want to miss!
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters…Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live.”
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
