Young At Heart

Recently, I got my hands on a copy of The Jesus Storybook Bible, and I have to say, I just love it!  Yes, it’s technically a “children’s Bible”, but the back says “Ages 4 & up,” so I count myself in the “up” category.

I’m a simple person, as you can probably tell.  Believe it or not, I’m not really into deep theological debates.  Rather, I like things laid out plain and simply, which is why a children’s Bible is just perfect for me!  I’m recalling all kinds of stories that I’ve either never heard or just don’t remember.

But yesterday, I stumbled upon a familiar passage, Psalm 23, and I absolutely loved their interpretation.  As far as I’m concerned, No matter how old you are, you never tire of being reminded that God is our Shepherd, He is always with us, and in Him, we have everything we need.

God is my Shepherd
And I am his little lamb

He feeds me
He guides me
I have everything I need.

Inside, my heart is very quiet.
As quiet as lying still in soft green grass
In a meadow
By a little stream.

Even when I walk through
the dark, scary, lonely places
I won’t be afraid
Because my Shepherd knows where I am.

He is here with me
He keeps me safe
He rescues me

He makes me strong
And brave.

He is getting wonderful things ready for me.
Especially for me
Everything I ever dreamed of!

He fills my heart so full of happiness
I can’t hold it all inside.

Wherever I go I know
Gods’ Never Stopping
Never Giving Up
Always and Forever
Will go, too!

God gave David this song to sing to his people, so they could know that he loved them and would always look after them--like a shepherd loves his sheep.

If you’re in the market for a new Bible for the little or big kids in your life, you should definitely check it out!
