I promise that not every post from here on out will be about memorizing scripture, but I have to tell you that my heart soared yesterday when I read all of the fabulous verses in the comment section. If you haven’t already checked them out, click here to see what I’m talking about. I promise your heart will be strengthened. And if you still want to join, there’s still time! So, I know it’s only been one day, but already, I’m starting to see fruit in my own life through memorizing scripture. Last night, I was tossing and turning in the middle of the night and wrestling with fear and anxiety. With the lights still out and no Bible in sight, I remembered the words of the verse I selected from Nehemiah yesterday, “Therefore you did not desert them.”
I can’t tell you what peace it brought to my restless heart. With each toss and each turn, I kept repeating it to myself and was assured that God was with me and He would not desert me.
I still need to work on learning the, “But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love,” part, but on day one, I definitely have the “Therefore you did not desert them” part down.
Also, I was SO encouraged by my Jesus Calling reading this morning and I just have to share the last sentence: “Remember that I am on your side, and I have overcome the world.”
Isn’t that awesome?! Talk about #winning!
“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
