|Little B at his first sleepover! He was in the best hands!!|
Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend! Friday was our five-year anniversary and my best friend Catherine offered to watch Little B for the night. Talk about a faithful friend!! I can’t tell you what an incredible gift it was. And Bear loved every minute of it! (See photographic evidence above.)
And speaking of Little B, early this morning, around 4 am, I woke up to the sounds of a crying babe. I went in to stick his pacifier in, thinking I could quickly sneak back out, but there was a strong aroma in the room that alerted me that more work was required: he was in desperate need of a new diaper. So, I put him on the changing table and got to work.
When I was finished, I attempted to rock him back to sleep, simultaneously while washing my hands.
Have you ever tried to wash just one hand at a time? Let’s just say it’s pretty much impossible.
I soaped up one hand and tried to swish the soap around, but it just wasn’t working; it’s definitely a job that requires two hands.
So, I awkwardly moved Little B into the fold of my elbows, so I could wash both hands together. I can’t tell you how much more effective it was! Lesson learned: hands were designed to be washed together!
To me, this was a perfect analogy of the difference between trying to do things on your own, versus allowing Someone much greater to help you out.
Try as you may to wash one hand at a time, but you’ll quickly discover that it’s much more difficult and much less effective.
In life, we can try to forge our own way, OR we can allow the God of the Universe to help us out. Trust me when I tell you, we will be much more supported and effective when we choose to allow God to walk alongside us.
Only in this case, two hands are not equal–His hand is so great, powerful, and unfailing, it’s amazing that He even wants to join in with our feeble, weak, imperfect hands. But the amazing truth is that He does!
Each one of us has been given the gift of an incredible Helper. So, why waste time trying to do things alone?!
