Turkey, and Stuffing, and Gravy, Oh My!

Two more days until the feast to end all feasts–are you excited?!  I have to tell you, being pregnant over Thanksgiving and Christmas is pretty great–no need to worry about packing on those extra pounds; it’s inevitable, so you might as well enjoy!

It’s amazing how much time, thought and effort goes into planning one meal.  I’ll be honest, I’ve been dreaming about sweet potatoes for the past month or so, and eagerly awaiting the day when I can eat them laced with butter, brown sugar, and bourbon–delicious!

We’ll have turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, biscuits, brussels sprouts, peas and pies–oh, the pies!  Each one of my sisters makes a pie and this year, we’ve added one more sister to the mix, so we’ll have key lime, chocolate mousse, pecan, apple, and pumpkin…five pies for 11 adults…sounds about right!

It’s a treat to come together, prepare for a meal, give thanks, and then spend hours enjoying it and just getting stuffed, only to all pass out together in front of football while dreaming of Black Friday.  Is this the American Dream, or what?!

This year, as we prepare to embark on our yearly gorge fest, rather than expending all of our energy thinking and dreaming about the delicious meal that’s to come (or maybe that’s just me), let’s take time to get stuffed on God.

He alone, is able to truly satisfy our cravings and desires.  When it comes to God, there’s no food coma; just peace, promise, and incredible perspective.  You can never get enough.

Feed on His Word; devour it; and never tire of consuming it; for God’s Word is life.

“When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight.”
Jeremiah 15:16
“He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”
Psalm 107:8-9
