Yesterday I talked a bit about looking back, but in addition to looking back the new year is a great time to look forward.  Like many others, each year, I try to come up with one or two words to help prepare my heart for the upcoming year.  Past words have included SimplifyDwell, and More.

This year, as I prepare to move forward, there are two words or phrases that have settled on my heart.  First up?  Similar to my beloved Meg, my word is Trust.

I don’t know about you, but most of my twenties has been one big question mark.  There are so many unknowns and uncertainties.    I wonder if God lovingly smiles at me as He watches me fret, worry, and stress over every single detail, step, and question, when ultimately, He knows that He has it under control.

I realize I spoke a bit about Trust yesterday in my wrap-up of 2011, but seeing Trust emerge as a theme from 2011, makes actively seeking to Trust in 2012 that much more appropriate.

So this year, rather than losing sleep over what may or may not happen, I’m hoping to be able to let God take the day watch and the night watch, as I seek to fall backwards into God, hand over everything, and simply Trust.

Trust that God will ultimately lead my little family of two to the perfect place, professionally and physically.

Trust that He will fully equip me to do the things that He’s called me to do.

Trust that as long as I’m seeking out God’s ways, and not my own, I will not be deprived.

Trust that God loves me fully and absolutely has my best interest in mind.

Trust that with God, the impossible becomes possible.

Trust God to bring healing and redemption to that which is broken.

“Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”
Psalm 9:10
