One thing I’m really excited about this Advent is that two of my favorite bloggers, Trish Ryan and Caroline McCain are planning on posting their Advent thoughts each day. I love their hearts and their writing and I’m so excited to hear more from them!
For Trish’s first post, she referenced a sermon from her pastor where he talked about the message of Advent and said that the message of Advent isn’t, “Hooray, Jesus has come! Everything will be fine now!” But rather, “The rescue is underway…and Jesus is coming back to complete it.
Don’t you love that?! With all the rush and excitement, it’s easy to get caught up into thinking that the message of Advent isn’t everything is perfect now. I love the reminder that it’s okay that it’s not, and most likely it probably isn’t, but don’t lose heart, because the rescue is underway.
During this time of joy, hope, and expectation, many of us may find ourselves in a place of deferred hope, disappointment, or sadness and that’s okay. Because the rescue is underway…and Jesus is coming back to complete it.
And as Trish says, “That is something I can celebrate.”
in him the Gentiles will hope.
