My turkey centerpiece…can you see the turkey?

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
Psalm 100:4-5
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
Colossians 2:6-7

Can you all believe that Thanksgiving is this week?  I’m can’t wait!  Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays, mostly because it’s an entire day devoted to cooking and eating.  Who doesn’t love that?  Last night I watched a special “Thanksgiving Throwdown” with Bobby Flay vs. The Pioneer Woman and it really made me excited for some Thanksgiving dinner.  Fellow foodies can get some of the recipes here and here—delicious!

With Thanksgiving coming up, I think it’s worth spending some time on the blog this week being thankful.  Not that we could ever scratch the surface of covering just how worthy God is of thanks and praise, but as we get ready to embark on a massive gorge fest of stuffing our tummies, I think it’s important we remember to stuff our hearts as well so that they are overflowing with thankfulness.

So today, I’m thankful for His incredible love.  I know that’s something we cover a lot here, but as far as I’m concerned, we can never cover it enough.  I’m reading this great book right now by Stormie Omartin called The Prayer That Changes Everything that focuses on the power available to us through praising God.

She has an entire chapter on praising God for His love and within it, there is a beautiful prayer thanking God for His love:

“It is amazing that You love me so, even though I have done nothing to deserve it.  “What is man, that you should exalt him, that You should set Your heart on him?” (Job 7:17).  Thank You that You “see my ways and count all my steps” (Job 31:4).  “Thank You that Your favor is for life” (Psalm 30:5).  O Lord, “because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.  Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in your name” (Psalm 63:3-4).  Lord, I love You with all my heart, mind, soul, and I worship You as my God of love.”

A great song I’ve recently discovered about God’s love is called How He Loves Us by The David Crowder Band.  Check it out below:  (E-mail subscribers click here)
