Take a Break

Little B is quite the packer!

Hi Everyone!  Sorry for the absence.  We have been in the throws of moving and life has been busy!

Here’s a question for you: do you ever have a super busy day and as you hurry and scurry about, you hear a little whisper that says something like, “take a five minute break and pray,” or “slow down and open your Bible for 2 minutes…”

Monday, was our last day in our little tree house in Charlottesville and It.  Was.  Hectic.  In my dream world, I thought Monday morning, we’d be loading up our car and hitting the road, but we had A LOT more to do than we realized.  Plus, when you’re moving with a five-month-old, it slows down your progress considerably.  I was tired, anxious, busy, emotional and completely overwhelmed.

All day, I felt this little whisper on my heart that said, “stop what you’re doing and read Jesus Calling for today,”  but I was “too busy” and just kept on going.

This morning was the first time that I’ve been able to pause and rest in a little quiet since last week.  The first thing I did, was open up Jesus Calling to July 15th.  If I had listened to that little whisper on Monday, a day when life was completely overwhelming and unknown, here are some highlights I would have found:

“DO NOT WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW!”  (it really IS in CAPS with an exclamation point!)

“Anxious thoughts meander about and crisscross in your brain, but trusting Me brings you directly into My Presence.”

“Trust in Him at all times….pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.”
Psalm 62:8

“My strength is made perfect in weakness…”
2 Corinthians 12:9

I could have read that on the day when I was tired, anxious, busy, emotional and completely overwhelmed, but I didn’t…

Thankfully, these truths are just as true today as they were on Monday, but I definitely laughed a little inside when I read them this morning.  God DID have a perfect 3 minute message for me on the exact day I needed it–He was ready!  I was just too frazzled to take the time to listen.

Life is busy.  Making time to rest in God’s presence is hard.  But even on the busiest of days, just five minutes can shift your perspective from feeling completely overwhelmed, to feeling safe and secure with God’s everlasting arms underneath you.  Don’t miss out on what He has to say to you!
