Lamentations 3:22-24 (NIV)
In college, I taped this verse to the keyboard of my laptop as a constant reminder of God’s steadfast love for me. As I would get worked up and stressed because of my workload, anxieties, failures, and hurts, I just had glance down at my keyboard, take a deep breath, and remind myself of this promise in Lamentations.
Right before this verse, Jeremiah is dwelling on the pain and suffering surrounding him and exclaims, “Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope…”
Not only does God love us unconditionally through our triumphs and joys, but He loves us with a fresh, renewed love in the midst of our mistakes, failures, heartaches, and sufferings. During these times it might seem harder to experience and believe in His love, but take heart that the steadfast love of the Lord NEVER ceases—it is new every morning, great is His faithfulness!
Heavenly Father, thank you that no matter what we’re facing in life, your love is so much bigger! I confess that sometimes it’s a lot easier for me to rest and believe in your love in the midst of my joys, but I thank you that even in the midst of my sorrows, your love never ceases. Lord, whether I’m experiencing joy or pain, I pray that my heart will continue to rest in your unfailing love. No matter what my circumstances are, even when I’m hurting, may my heart never stop desiring to love and be loved by you.
