Spring Is Coming

Little by little, Spring continues to peek out here and there and slowly transition us away from this bitter winter.   Yesterday, while on a walk, was the first time this year I sensed that Spring is about to arrive in full force.  For a brief moment, everything came together and made me so grateful for the promise of Spring: the sun was bright and warm on my face, the breeze was refreshing, the grass was crisp and bright, and there was a faint scent of flowers beginning to blossom.  When Spring begins to come, life feels new again.

In that moment, I thought about how as we reflect on Christ’s suffering and death, on the other side of that is the promise of life and eternal hope.  Each year as we await Easter Sunday there is an expectation and eagerness I sense as we approach the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection.  Is it Sunday yet??

As Spring continues to slowly bud up around us, let’s remember the fresh life we have received through Christ’s death and resurrection, and rejoice that we have been blessed with the gift of the New Covenant.

“The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah… I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts.  I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
Hebrews 8: 7, 10-12
