Snacking on God’s Truth

Frequent readers will know that I’ve been in a season for the past month or so that has been much more demanding than others.  This week, a lot of what I’ve been working on is coming into fruition with three (yes, three!) big events I’ve been working on all coming to a head.

Today is the beginning as my mom and I head to Richmond to speak and the first Richmond Changing Seasons and then tonight, I have a big event for work that I’ve been working hard on.

The week concludes with Sara Hagerty joining us in Virginia Beach on Friday for our Fall Changing Seasons Luncheon in Virginia Beach–I can’t wait!!

All that to say, this week I’ve been awaiting with anxious expectation is here–it’s showtime!  I’m excited, overwhelmed, and nervous…

I’ve been trying to take things slowly and one-by-one check off my to-do list, and as I’ve been scurrying about (more like “waddling about” at 33 weeks pregnant), I’ve been so grateful for the ways that God is meeting me right where I am–tired, overwhelmed, anxious, and weak–He’s so faithful like that!

I’ve spoken about “spiritual snacks” before, but this week, more than ever, I’ve just needed little tastes of His word and His truth to get me through each day.

Pausing just for a minute to inhale His truth and feed on His promises.

Yesterday, I was driving in the car, just for 15 minutes, and I’d never appreciated that quiet time more.  I deliberately put my cell phone away and paused, listening to the words of one of my FAVORITE songs, “All of my life, in every season, You are still God, I have a reason to sing, I have a reason to worship…”

This morning, I read a quick portion of Sara Hagerty’s adoration devotional:

“I want to run and hide, but You tell me: come and hide. Trouble that makes me shrink back initiates a different response from You. I cower, You hold. You Surround. You protect.”

I also stumbled upon a trusted verse that is a faithful lifeline to me when I need it:

“May the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfectestablish, strengthen, and settle you.”
1 Peter 5:10

So that’s what I’ve been doing lately…snacking on God’s truth when I can and allowing Him to sustain me through each day.

Is there something you’ve been snacking on lately?  Feel free to share it in the comments!

Okay, back to the reality–50 minutes left to get ready, pack up Little B for school, and get this party started!
