Sick Day

Ally McBeal–providing relief for sick days since 1997

Believe it or not, I’m not as spry as I once was.  After my five-year reunion two weeks ago, I came down with a horrible cold and have been sick ever since.  Tuesday I finally took a sick day to allow my body time to rest and replenish.  I hate to be sick, but I do love that even when you’re lying on the couch while the world spins around you, there are a few things you can rely on:

  • The staple for sick people since the beginning of time: Saltines and Ginger Ale.  (I highly recommend Hansens Diet Ginger Ale).
  • The calm and relaxation a cup of tea can bring.
  • The instrumental value of a good old fashion TV marathon.  Thanks to Netflix, the TV marathon is much more attainable for sick people everywhere.  I would personally like to thank Ally McBeal for nursing my health throughout the day.
  • A free pass for your husband to take care of all household responsibilities—I was more than happy to hand over my 50%.

Similar to the always I posted a few months ago, when it comes to our God, there is MUCH we can rely on:

When we call to Him, He will hear us and respond:

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.
Jeremiah 33:3
Our God knows us and He has a plan:
For you created my inmost being;
   you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
   your works are wonderful,
   I know that full well.
Psalm 139:13-14
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11
God is our Helper in times of trouble:
God is our refuge and strength,
   an ever-present help in trouble.
Psalm 46:1
What are some of the truths about God that you rely on??
