Showtime!

Happy  Monday!  I hope y’all had a great weekend!  Little B’s cousins were in town, which meant a lot less naps and a lot more energy and excitement.  We also celebrated Aunt Abby’s birthday the only way birthdays should be celebrated: with a hibachi grill!  Have I mentioned my love for hibachi grills?!

Like father, like son–Big B and Little B in awe of the hibachi!

The birthday girl!  As you can see, Louisa wasn’t a fan of the “birthday gong!”

Yes, it was cool to have a birthday party there when you were nine, but even at twenty-nine, I still love a good hibachi grill!  I don’t know what it is…The fire?  The onion train?  The massive mound of friend rice?  The chef catching eggs in his hat?  The strangers who sit next to you if you don’t arrive with enough people for your own table?  Or possibly the shrimp toss where you’re forced to catch the food flying towards your face (not to brag, but I’m kind of a pro)…whatever it is, make no mistake, I’m a fan!

Yes, some may say these sort of places are tacky, loud, and leave you smelling like grease for at least a week (plan your outfit accordingly and don’t wash your hair the day you go), and they would happen to be correct, but I still say, there’s nothing like it!

It’s kind of fun to sit down, watch the chef do his thing, and then end up with a delicious pile of food.  Unlike a regular restaurant that simply brings you a plate of food (where’s the fun in that?), here, you get to be still, watch the process, and enjoy the result.

Throughout the Bible, there are many times where God tells his people  to be still and watch.

Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today…The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.
Exodus 14:13-14

Look at the nations and watch—
    and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
    that you would not believe,
    even if you were told.

Habbakuk 1:5

Be still, and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10

I was recently talking to a friend who had been praying about something with me and she said, “When we finally see what God is going to do with this, we’re just going to stand back and clap our hands, because we’re going to be so amazed at how He’s worked!”  Don’t you love that?!

If you’re in a season right now, where God is telling you to stand back and watch, take Him up on it!  Be still, trust Him, watch the Master and work, and enjoy the show!
