A few nights ago, B and I watched the Liam Neeson movie Taken. I first fell in love with Mr. Neeson in Love Actually as he courageously coached his young stepson Sam on how to win the heart of his beloved. Adorable!
Anyways, have ya’ll seen Taken? A few words of caution: do not see this if you or your daughter is planning to travel internationally in the near future. And if you are traveling abroad, when the cute European guy you meet at the airport asks if you want to split a cab into the city, just say, “no.”
In Taken, Liam Neeson is on the phone with his teenage daughter when she is kidnapped by human traffickers in Paris. Lucky for his daughter, Liam is a former-CIA operative and is able to use his ridiculous skills to try to track her down.
Though extremely intense at times, what I loved about this movie was the father’s relentless pursuit of his daughter. He stopped at nothing until she was back in his arms.
I love movies that show a father’s undying love for his daughter, because it’s such a great reminder of how much more our heavenly Father loves us. One of my favorite truths about God is that He is a God who loves His children unconditionally. This love is so vast, we can’t even begin to conceive it. This love compels our God to pursue us, to redeem us, and to rescue us. Ya’ll, I don’t know about you, but I can’t hear that enough.
