No Tricks, All Treats!

Tinker Bell and her Baby Fairy all dressed up and ready to go!

Happy November!  Can you believe we’re already in November?!  I hope you had a fun day yesterday tricking and treating.  I’ve had a bag of Costco candy that I’ve been slowly eating through for over a month now and I was hoping to get rid of all of it last night.  Sadly, we only had one little astronaut grace us with his presence and he didn’t require much.  Oh well, guess I’ll be working through this bag until Christmas….

I’m not really a huge Halloween girl and despite my flare for the dramatic, I don’t particularly enjoy dressing up.  But yesterday I had a revelation: for a kid, Halloween is a pretty sweet gig.  I mean, all you have to do is dress up and go door to door to get free treats.

Aside from having your parents help you out with a costume, there’s really nothing you have to do besides knock on doors.  And at each door, more delicious treats ensue…unless you go to a house that gives Almond Joy bars or something healthy like raisins, in which case you should shake the dust off your shoes and vow never to return again.

A few bad apples aside, most of the trick or treating experience is full of treats!

Similarly, without requiring much, each time we open up God’s word, we find it’s full of sweet truths and promises to carry us through the day.  All we have to do is open it up…

So here are a few of the latest treats I’ve been snacking on:

“He is your constant source of stability; He abundantly provides safety and great wisdom; He gives all to those who fear Him.”
Isaiah 33:6 (NET)
“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NKJV)
