Mystery Solved!

Did everyone enjoy the holiday weekend?  We sure did!  Complete with beach, bikes, family, precious friends, and a little sushi date thrown into the mix.  On Sunday, there were some other pretty exciting activities…

…my one and only “brudder” Willis proposed to his fabulous girlfriend Caitlin and she said yes!  We could not be happier!  She is a perfect fit for my favorite brother.  Congratulations you two!!

In other news, remember the mailbox mystery?  Well, we have finally cracked the case….it was our incredible next door neighbor.  He saw what the storm did, knew exactly how to fix it, and that’s exactly what he did.

I really can’t tell you how much it meant to me. He totally went out of his way to help us without anything to gain in return.

In 1 Peter 1:10 it says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

In our neighbor’s case, he was very handy and had experience fixing mailboxes, so he shared that gift with us!

But how am I using my gifts to serve others??

My initial answer is not enough.  I may think of ways to serve, or come up with ideas, but turning that into a reality is a completely different story.

Thinking about how touched I have been by this random act of kindness has challenged me to examine how I serve others.  Sometimes, it’s the smallest things that can make the biggest difference.

“Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’  The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Mark 12:28-31
