Lessons from Princess Kate on Keeping it Simple

Happy Wednesday, friends!  I hope y’all are having a great week!

Can we talk about the Royal Family for a minute?  It’s not secret that I completely love Princess Kate.  I mean, I just know if we met, we’d be besties!

Last week, the world went crazy for their first official family portrait:

Here’s what I (and pretty much everyone else in the world) love about this shot–it’s so simple and down-to-earth, which is one of the reasons why we love them so.  It’s effortless, yet attainable for “commoners” like us.

I mean, you have two future kings and a princess, just posing in the back yard while Kate’s dad snaps some shots.  No big deal.  A simple, $79 maternity dress that you can buy here, and as Suri pointed out, the same blanket for Prince George as when he left the hospital–no fancy day gown for Georgie, just a good old-fashioned swaddle!

If I had the resources and notoriety Kate has, I think I’d want a famous photographer (I don’t know I was thinking maybe Annie Leibovitz?) and a high-end designer (Oscar or Carolina would certainly do!) to show the world England’s future king, but not Kate!

Now, I can’t help you with securing her beautiful locks and a prince for some good arm candy, but here’s the lesson I think we can learn from Princess Kate: less is more.

So often, we get in this mindset that we have to have the best of the best of everything and struggle to keep up with those who always seem to be continually ahead of us, when really, I think there’s a lot to be said for keeping things simple.

And if a real-live princess can keep it simple, surely there’s hope for the rest of us, right?!
