Knead It Out

Happy Tuesday!  I hope you had a great weekend!  We went back to Virginia Beach this weekend for my 10-year reunion.  It’s hard to believe it’s already been ten years, but it was so fun to get back and see everyone!  Saturday morning, I even managed to squeeze in a prenatal massage, thanks to a birthday gift certificate from my fabulous sister-in-law.

I can’t tell you what a delight it was.  I’ve actually been having a lot of upper back pain recently, so when I got there, she asked what she could focus on and I was quick to fill her in on exactly where and how I was hurting.

After a few initial kneads, within minutes, she pinpointed the exact source of my problems and worked out the pain and discomfort.  As she continued to knead away, I was so grateful that I could come to her with my pains and problems and she could work them out.  Granted, it didn’t feel “good” all the time.  At times, it was quite painful, but I knew the pain would ultimately result in increased comfort.  She was the master and I trusted her with my aches and pains.

As I sat there for a hour, I had a picture of God massaging and kneading the pains, aches, and discomforts of our lives.  Much like massage, it might not always feel “good” as he works out our problems, but we can trust that He is the master and He knows what He’s doing.

When we bring our problems to God and tell Him where we’re hurting, much like my masseuse, He can instantly pinpoint the pain, and work with us to knead it out.  The first stop, is simply coming to God and telling Him where we hurt.

Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.
Psalm 62:8 (NLT)

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
