Hebrews 12:1 (NIV)
Running has never been my forte, but since high school, Hebrews 12:1 has been such an incredible challenge to me. I love the imagery this verse describes of throwing off the sin that’s getting in my way and running towards the Lord. I see myself running full speed ahead into the arms of the Lord (that’s about the only time I’m running full speed) and along the way, throwing off the sin that’s holding me back from fully seeking the Lord.
As we continue to move forward in our desire to love the Lord more each day, I pray that we won’t stop pushing forward. Even when the days seem mundane and life is dragging along, let us continue to run with perseverance the race marked out for us and “fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” (verse 2)
Jesus, I pray that you will give me the strength and endurance to keep on running, even when I’m tired and want to give up. How I long for a more intimate relationship with you! I pray that I will continue to run towards you and stop at nothing until you are my heart’s one and only desire.
