For the past four days, my soul has been refueling and recharging thanks to the incredible Devoted Conference. They didn’t just have one great speaker, they had four. Four women who have all chosen to say “yes” and allowed God to use their stories, hearts, and insights into God’s Word to equip and empower other women.
One word I heard over and over again was courage. Courage to step up; courage to believe God is in the hard places; courage to be obedient; courage to accept God’s calling on your life; courage to say “yes”.
One of the speakers continued to quote Romans 8:14 “God’s Spirit beckons…”
“God’s Spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go!”
Romans 8:14-15 (MSG)
God’s Spirit beckons…we are here on earth only for such short time, but God, our God, He has plans for us. What is He calling you to? What has He created you for? What is the dream He has placed on your heart?
Admittedly, these promptings can be scary, unfamiliar, and intimidating. But God, our God, is faithful. He’s not going to call us to something and then say, “Well, okay Elizabeth, I think you can take it from here…” Why? Well, for starters, He knows I can’t. And secondly, He has promised over and over again that He will not leave us.
In chapter 1 of Joshua, God beckons Joshua and calls him to lead the people of Israel to take the land that God had given to His people. In chapter 1, three times God tells Joshua to be courageous and twice God assures Joshua that He is with him.
“In the same way I was with Moses, I’ll be with you. I won’t give up on you; I won’t leave you.”
Joshua 1:5 (MSG)
“Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take.”
Joshua 1:9 (MSG)
Sweet Friend, in the same way God was with Moses, and Joshua, He is with you! He won’t give up on you; He won’t leave you. God, your God, is with you every step you take!! Don’t be afraid to step up; you are not alone.
