Happy Tuesday to one and all! In case you missed yesterday, my mom is offering to mail her Advent book to anyone who’s interested. It’s a little devotional that takes you through the four weeks of Advent leading up to Christmas. Send me an e-mail today with your mailing address to elizabeth.r.williams1(at)gmail(dot)com and you’ll be all set. The books will go out tomorrow.
Above is one of my all time favorite Advent passages. Here we see Isaiah describe how God is preparing to bring a great light to the darkened world through the highly anticipated Savior. Those walking in darkness will soon see the light…our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Fast forward about 700 years and we see Jesus come to earth, and proclaim in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Even now, there is still so much darkness to wade through. Clouds of discouragement, doubt, frustration, suffering, anger, and discouragement can settle in and inhibit our ability to see the light, or even try to look for it.
Jesus came to fulfill the prophecies of the long awaited Savior and to offer hope and light to a dark and weary world. In Him, we have the light of life. Today, whatever darkness surrounds us, there is hope.
