Last week, Little B and I went on a short excursion to see some friends who were visiting out of town. The dinner was about thirty minutes outside of Charlottesville out in the country. So, naturally, I entered the address into my GPS, my faithful road trip companion.
The only problem was that each time the GPS said we were near our destination, there was no house, just farmland. My trusty friend would say over and over, “You have reached your destination,” but there was nothing there.
I tried to enter the address into my phone and had the same problem. For about thirty minutes we drove around and around in circles, going nowhere.
Completely frustrated, I pulled up my email (thankfully my phone still worked!) to discover I had entered in the wrong address. I simply reversed two digits and we were on our way! Thirty minutes later than planned, we eventually reached our final destination.
As I drove home that night, feeling like such an idiot for entering the address wrong and wasting thirty minutes of my day, I thought about how important it is in life to have a vision and a destination.
Proverbs 29:18 says, “where there is no vision, the people perish.”
Admittedly, it’s often hard to figure out where you should be going and what you should be doing with your life, but that’s where God comes in. He knows the plans that He has for you and He knows where He needs to take you to fulfill them.
When you allow Him access to your visions, dreams, and desires, He is able to point you in the right direction each and every day. Consult Him daily and trust that eventually, He will lead and guide you exactly where you need to go.
