Godspell

Happy Monday!  Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!  We had the BEST time in New York!  This week was Broadway week, so we were able to get 2 for 1 tickets to a show.  At the recommendation of my newest brother-in-law, we saw the newly revised version of Godspell.  Ya’ll it is so good.

I had no idea what to expect going into it, but I was blown away.

When John the Baptist started walking out singing, “Prepare Ye The Way of the Lord,” I had tears in my eyes.  I loved the power of the music, but mostly, I couldn’t believe something filled with so much scripture was actually on Broadway, right next to Wicked, playing for a packed theater.  It was amazing!  Here’s a little peek:

Hearing so many of Jesus’ teachings come to life made me convicted that I really don’t take the time to study and learn the words of Jesus.  He has incredible, challenging, amazing, powerful teachings, stories, and truth.  Often my head is buried in the Psalms (my favorite book of the Bible) that I’m missing out on the rich and powerful red letter words of Jesus.

So if it’s been a while since you’ve opened up the Gospels, why not check it out?  That’s where I’m hoping to be this week!

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16
