Friday Favorites 1.24.14

Happy Friday!  SO excited for the first “Friday Favorites” post on the new website!

First off, I just want to thank so many of you for your incredible enthusiasm and encouragement yesterday over the new website. I am truly so humbled and grateful for your support–I know that may sound cliche or cheesy, but I genuinely mean it.  For reals.

Okay, onto some favorites!

A “loose” New Year’s resolution I have in 2014 is more reading and less TV.  (I repeat, “loose”).  So I loved this list from Kaitlyn on her must-read books for 2014.

My friend Anne recently introduced me to my new favorite blog, Designer Bags & Dirty Diapers.  Even if you don’t have kids, you’ll love her posts of fashion, cooking, and pretty much everything else.  Moms-to-be, here’s a good one on Nursing Essentials & Dressing While Nursing.  For the chef who has everything, this list of kitchen gadgets is pretty amazing.  Or how delicious does this Kale & Quinoa salad look:

Virginia Beach friends, I am SO excited to let you know that Melanie Shankle is our February Changing Seasons speaker!  I’ve loved her blog “The Big Mama blog” for years and can’t wait to hear her in-person!  Get more details here.

Speaking of Melanie, by way of Anna Kate, I have rediscovered “The Big/Boo Cast.”  It’s a podcast that she does with one of her best friends, Sophie aka “Boo Mama.”  If you’re feeling lonely, and need some best friends, or if you just want to hear more about all kinds of fun, random things like Pinterest weddings, Stitch Fix, and Emily Maynard, this is for YOU!  Listen here.

And those of you who need a little laugh, you MUST watch this “Baby Bachelor” series that Jimmy Kimmel ran a few months ago.  Thanks to my sister Abby for sending along:
