Feeding On His Word

“When your words came I ate them for they were my joy and my heart’s delight”
Jeremiah 15:16 (NIV)

At the beginning of this challenge, in our first prayer we prayed to love every part of who the Lord is—His word, His voice, His presence, His laws, His discipline, His power—my prayer is that as we continue to look at God’s love for us and earnestly desire to love every part of Him more, He will continue to reveal Himself to us day after day.

Today’s verse paints a beautiful picture of loving and delighting in the words of the Lord. I love how Jeremiah refers to God’s words as his “heart’s delight.” Hebrews 4 says, “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edge sword.”

In looking at loving the Lord, it is so important to have a reverence, awe, and sincere love for His word. How incredibly blessed we are to have a book filled with promises, revelation, and insights into the heart of God!

Over the next few days, let’s really spend some time delighting in the words of the Lord. May we feed on the spiritual provisions that He provides us in His word and come to know His words as “our heart’s delight.”

Lord God, how I love your word! Thank you for providing us a tangible glimpse into who you are—your power, your might, your acts, and your incredible unfailing love. In my quest to love you more, I pray that I will feast daily on your mighty word. Thank you that your word is alive and active. Thank you for the power that is contained within the Bible. Father God, I pray that I will revere your word with love and adoration. With all that I am, I want to love every part of who you are.
