Deep, Deep Love

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice forour sins.”
1 John 4:10

Yesterday marked the beginning of Holy Week which is the week leading up to Easter and includes Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday.

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been over one month since we entered into the season of Lent on Ash Wednesday.  I don’t know what this season has been marked by for you spiritually or personally, but my prayer for all of us is that during this final week leading up to Easter, our hearts will be reawakened to God’s incredible love for us.  He loved us so much that He sacrificed His only Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins!

It would be nice if during this week all of life could come to a halt and we could tune out all of the earthly distractions and simply seek the Lord.  No college thesis, no finals, no boy troubles, no work frustrations, no unanswered prayers, no pain…just you and Jesus.  And while life will continue to roll along this week, I pray that in the midst of the mundane, the stress, the hurt, and the unknown, we will not forget what this week is all about.  I pray that we won’t lose sight of who God is and the incomprehensible gift He’s given to us through the death of His Son.

“How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure.”
