Breathing Room

Over the past few years, one of my favorite blogs to hop over to has been Emily Freeman’s blog, Chatting at The Sky.  Her tagline: “A place for your soul to breathe.”  Don’t you love that?!  I mean, I don’t care who you are, don’t we all need a place for our souls to breathe?!

Life is busy, demanding and hectic.  I don’t know about you, but for me, there are typically many more unknowns than knowns and so many times where I feel like I’m just trying to tread water just to keep up with everything.  Things can get crazy.

Yet, in the rush, we all need breathing room.  A moment of our day where we can pause and simply inhale.

My question is this: where can your soul go to breathe right now?  Even if just for a moment, what is providing oxygen to your tired, weary soul?

This can look like lots of different things to lots of different people.  For me, here are some of my favorite ways to breathe:

  • Power Walking
  • Reading Jesus Calling
  • Having a cup of coffee or a glass of wine with a dear friend
  • Taking a bath
  • Drinking a cup of tea–what is it about tea that’s just so calming?!
  • Writing
  • Listening to uplifting music while I’m driving in the car

No matter what your day looks like today, do yourself a favor and take some time to breathe.  (Insert chorus to Michelle Branch song here).

And speaking of music, Emily’s last post was all about music for your soul to breathe.  Check it out here.
