A Great Savior.

On Tuesday, I briefly mentioned a book I’ve been reading in my Bible study called Respectable Sins.  Again, it’s not for the faint of heart, but it does a great job bringing to light so many of the sins that we often tolerate.

I don’t know about you, but thinking and dwelling on my sins is not something I particularly enjoy.  I mean really, who does?!

It can be a real downer to think about the countless ways we fall short in the presence of such a perfect, holy, and powerful God.  But no matter who you are, there’s no escaping it: each one of us is a sinner.

Lest you think the book I’m reading simply rattles off how sinful and horrible we are, there is still hope!!  In one part, the author writes, “I am a great sinner, but I have a great Savior.”  A Truth I pray that we never tire of hearing.

Yes, we are sinful.  Yes, we can be ugly and imperfect.  At our cores, we are great sinners.  But thank God, our story doesn’t stop there.

In spite of our great sin, we have an even greater Savior who sees all and knows all, and chooses to love us anyway.  One who laid down His life for us so that we could live.

It’s the greatest love story of all time, and one that each one of us gets to be a part of.  Thanks be to God!

“I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.”
Isaiah 43:25
