Yesterday, we looked at Mary’s joyful heart of praise, and today we see her faithful, obedient heart.
When the angel visits Mary to tell her that she is to give birth to the Messiah, she asks questions, but she never doubts, complains, or says, “No thanks, I’m not really interested.” She believes the angel when the angel tells her that nothing is impossible with God and she replies, “I am the Lord’s servant…May it be to me as you have said.”
Following the visitation, she hurries to her cousin Elizabeth to tell her what has just happened to which Elizabeth replies, “Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!”
How I long for a faithful heart like Mary’s. I want to fully believe in what God’s says. I don’t want to doubt or grow a patient, but I long for a heart that willingly and joyfully obeys.
Lord, thank you for who You are and what you are capable of. How I praise You that nothing is impossible with You. Today, I pray for a faithful heart. I want to believe in You, and believe in the promises that You have given to me. Thank you for Your power, Your might, and Your ability to fulfill your promises. Thank you for the plans that you have for me. May I have a heart that patiently and faithfully believes in You. All things are possible with You!
