“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Psalm 37:4

Last week we looked at God’s unfailing love read about how God takes great delight in us (Zephaniah 3:17). Today, we see the incredible promise that not only does God delight in us, but as we’re delighting ourselves in Him, He will bless us with the desires of our heart.

How do we delight in Him? We rest in His love, we acknowledge the pleasure and joy we experience from His presence, we yearn to know more of Him, and we seek to love Him with all of our hearts.

My prayer for us as we’re desiring to love the Lord more is that our love for Him will continue to grow in our hearts and that delighting in Him daily will be what we long for. As we delight in the Lord, we experience joy and are satisfied in His presence, and we also receive the desires of our hearts. The closer we are to the Lord, the more our hearts’ desires mirror His desires for us.

As we continue to draw closer to the Lord, may we love Him, delight in Him, and pour our desires out to Him; trusting that when we’re delighting in Him, He will bless us with our hearts’ desires.

“Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” Psalm 62:8 (NIV)

Lord, what a privilege it is to delight in you. Thank you for the way that your presence satisfies my soul. Lord, I want to know you more—I want to be a woman who takes great delight in you. I pray that as I continue to learn what it means to love you and delight in you, that the desires of my heart will mirror your desires for my life. Thank you that you are my Father and in you I have everything I need. Only you can satisfy the desires of my heart. How I love you!
